Groundwater dynamics in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta: Trends, memory effects, and response times

چکیده
Vietnamese Mekong Delta. This study investigates the trends of groundwater levels (GWLs), memory effect alluvial aquifers, and response times between surface water across Delta (VMD). Trend analysis, auto- cross-correlation, time-series decomposition were applied within a moving window approach to examine non-stationary behavior. Our revealed an effective connection shallowest aquifer unit (Holocene) water, high potential for shallow recharge. However, low-permeable aquicludes separating aquifers behave as low-pass filters that reduce high?frequency signals in GWL variations, limit recharge deep groundwater. Declining GWLs (0.01?0.55 m/year) detected all throughout 22 years observation, indicating abstraction exceeds Stronger declining deeper The dynamic trend analysis indicates decrease accelerated continuously. varied according geographical location, being shorter flood-prone areas longer coastal areas. Variation time river was controlled by depth season. during flood season, bulk occurred late particularly aquifers.

Pre-angkorian Settlement Trends in Cambodia’s Mekong Delta and the Lower Mekong Archaeological Project
Polities in the Mekong delta played a central role in regional developments between 500 BC and AD 500. Documentary data suggest the delta reached its political apex during the 3 through 7 centuries. What were the roots of early polities in this region, and what was their organization? Research by the Lower Mekong Archaeological Project seeks to answer these questions through field investigation...

15 صفحه اولGroundwater extraction, land subsidence, and sea-level rise in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam
Groundwater exploitation is a major cause of land subsidence, which in coastal areas poses a flood inundation hazard that is compounded by the threat of sea-level rise (SLR). In the lower Mekong Delta, most of which lies <2 m above sea level, over-exploitation is inducing widespread hydraulic head (i.e., groundwater level) declines. The average rate of head decline is ∼0.3 m yr, based on time-s...
